Passing Fad

I could move mountains for you.
I could change the direction of the tide.
I could turn day into night, change the dark sky to light…
And yet during the height of your fame you could not spare a minute of your time, a glance in my direction, a kind word, or gentle caress.
Now in the twilight of your notoriety, something as simple as an offered glass of water to quench the thirst you’ve built telling me about your heyday earns me your absolute affection.
